Mayor Pro Tem Bob Henderson
Mayor Pro Tem Henderson has been Chairman since the creation of the agency, in 1994. He served on Whittier’s City Council from 1976 until 1984, serving as Mayor Pro Tem from 1980-82. He was then re-elected in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014. Mayor Pro Tem Henderson served as Mayor from 1992-94, and again in 2009. An Uptown Whittier business owner, he owns Hendersons Insurance. Mayor Pro Tem Henderson is very active in other hills preservation agencies and organizations.
Mayor Pro Tem Henderson’s alternate on this Board is Josué Alvarado, who is also a member of the Whittier City Council. He was appointed as Alternate in 2016.
Ivan Sulic represents the Los Angeles County Supervisor of the Fourth District, Janice Hahn, in the cities of Norwalk, Downey and Whittier. He is also the Supervisor’s Parks Deputy. Ivan was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2017.
Mr. Sulic’s alternate is Lauren Yokomizo, who also works for Supervisor Hahn representing La Habra Heights and Diamond Bar, and in the communities of Rowland Heights and Hacienda Heights. She was appointed as Alternate in 2017.
Michael Hughes was appointed in 2017 by Supervisor Hahn to represent the community of Hacienda Heights. He previously was appointed by Supervisor Don Knabe from 2010 to 2016. Prior to his appointment as Director he served on the Habitat Authority’s Citizens Technical Advisory Committee for 11 years, as well as 11 years as an Alternate Director. He has served 13 years on the Board of Directors of the Hacienda Heights Improvement Association, 8 of those years as its President. Michael has served on the San Gabriel Council of Governments, and is currently on the Board of the Wildlife Corridor Conservation Authority and Hills For Everyone.
Grace R. Hyde
Grace Hyde is the Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. She began work with the Sanitation Districts in 1983, and became Assistant Chief Engineer and Assistant General Manager in November 2008. She served as Solid Waste Management Department Head for over 2 years (after having been the Assistant Department Head of the Solid Waste Management Department). Grace was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2012, and was an Alternate for 5 1/2 years prior.
Ms. Hyde’s alternate is Robert Ferrante, Assistant Chief Engineer and Assistant General Manager. He was formerly the Department Head of Solid Waste. He was appointed as Alternate in 2012.
