El Niño Preparations
From installing straw wattles for minimizing hillside erosion, clearing culverts to allow stormwater to flow unimpeded, and scheduling important trail improvements to ensure roads remain accessible to first responders- the Habitat Authority has been proactive in efforts to prepare for foreseeable El Nino impacts!
Staff and contracted rangers have been assessing and abating potential hazards Preserve-wide and will continue to respond if, and when, heavy rains move into the region, including through trail closures to minimize risk to recreationalists and first responders, deployment of sandbags to protect property, and removal of any downed trees and debris.
If neighbors or visitors encounter a hazard, staff and rangers are available to assist via email (info@habitatauthority.org) and the 24-hour ranger dispatch line: (562) 698-1446.
